What is the HomeBuilder program?
HomeBuilder is a grant program, designed to support builders, painters, plumbers and electricians across the country by providing owner-occupiers with a grant of $25,000 to put towards building a new home!
How much money can I save?
The Government’s HomeBuilder program will provide eligible owner-occupiers – not just first home buyers – with a one-off grant of $25,000.
Am I eligible?
To access HomeBuilder, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You are an individual (not a company or trust), aged 18 years or older and are an Australian citizen.
- You meet one of the following two income caps:
- $125,000 per annum for an individual applicant based on 2018/19 tax return or later; or
- $200,000 per annum for a couple based on your combined on 2018/19 tax return or later.
- You enter into a building contract between 4 June 2020 to 31 December 2020 to build a new home as a principal place of residence valued up to $750,000 (including land).
It’s important to note that construction must be start within three months of the contract date.
First home buyers and the HomeBuilder program

In addition to the $25,000 available through HomeBuilder, you will be also be eligible for the First Home Owner Grant, valued at $15,000 – meaning you can save a huge $40,000 when you build your first home!

HomeBuilder also complements the Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and First Home Super Saver Scheme.
