If the thought of moving house seems daunting, spare a thought for Mark and Richelle Elms, who, along with their three children – Blaike, Levi and Mckenzie – moved country!
In 2019, the young family left South Africa bound for South Australia.
“Moving to a new country was a very overwhelming time for our family and we couldn’t wait to find somewhere where we could put down roots,” said Richelle, a project coordinator in the electrical manufacturing industry.
“We spent months house hunting but couldn’t really find a good fit.
“That all changed the day we drove into Springwood; we experienced an instant feeling of being ‘home’!
“The tranquil sounds of nature combined with the gorgeous views and open spaces just took our breaths away.

In 2020, Richelle and Mark purchased a generous 480sqm block in Springwood and have chosen Hickinbotham to build their “ultimate family home”.

As first-time home builders, Richelle has loved being able to customise the design to suit their needs and has felt well-supported on the exciting journey.
“This is the first time we have bought a block and built a new home, and as first-time builders, we really didn’t know the process at all,” she said.
“Previously, when we bought an established home, there was always a list of things that needed changing to suit our family.
“But this time, we get to make our home just the way we want!
“[The Springwood Sales Team] has been there for us at every step of the process, guiding and supporting us.
“Adrian from Hickinbotham has also gone above and beyond, especially when it came to building terms we weren’t familiar with.
“We refer to them as ‘The Dream Team’!”
In a place where neighbours are friends and look out for one another, the Elms were instantly attracted to the community-feel at Springwood.
“We cannot wait to get the keys to our home and be a part of this friendly, welcoming neighbourhood,” said Richelle.
“We’re counting down the days – coming from a country where it wasn’t always safe to leave your home, we’re thrilled that our children will be able to grow up free and safe at Springwood.”
The Elms family expects to move into their new home in mid-2021.
